Grant Writer / Prospect Researcher
Assist the department Director in the research, stewardship, relationship management and creation of grants/proposals to corporations, foundations and organizations. Research and prepare background information on prospective and current donors using Internet, online services, existing records or direct contact with the donor. Manage, steward and solicit assigned donor list.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Require 1-2 years’ experience in grant writing or fund raising for a nonprofit, or
prospect research experience in the for profit or nonprofit sector.
- Impeccable oral and written communication skills.
- Individual must have demonstrated ability to use data mining tools to locate biographical, financial and philanthropic information.
- Dedication to detail, high ethical standards in the handling of confidential information.
- Able to manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience in interpreting and summarizing financial and biographical data in order to identify potential individual, corporate and foundation donors who should be targeted for solicitation desirable.
- Microsoft Office is essential. Familiarity with development database management tools such as Donor Perfect and ability to read financial documents such as SEC documents is a plus. Guiding Eyes for the Blind is located in Yorktown Heights, New York and is an internationally accredited, nonprofit guide dog school with a 50-plus-year legacy of providing the blind and visually impaired with superior Guiding Eyes dogs, training, and lifetime support services.
