Reports to: Director of Foundation and Corporate Giving

Position Summary:

The Children’s Aid Society seeks an experienced, senior level grant writer to join our Foundation and Corporate Giving team. The Senior Grant Writer will write proposals and reports to funders and assist in grants management. The Senior Grant Writer will also conduct prospect research; draft donor correspondence and inquiries; and develop text for materials used in other Development areas as required. The Senior Grant Writer will compliment and help to strengthen the efforts of our existing team of capable and committed development professionals.

Responsibilities:

Write letters, proposals and reports to institutional donors.
Help to edit the work of the team’s Development Associates.
Work with budget managers and program staff to prepare reports and proposals.
Research and understand issues pertaining to child, youth and family well-being, particularly low-income families.
Utilize Raiser’s Edge to track contributions and generate funding reports.
Conduct research on prospective donors.
All other duties – as may be assigned by the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving, the Assistant Executive Director for Development and the Executive Office.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum of four years grant writing experience, with demonstrated results and experience working with budgets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Knowledge of social policy issues, particularly those concerning low-income children.
Applicants should have a professional demeanor, be highly organized and detail oriented with a high level of initiative and sound judgment.
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge desirable.
