Grant Writer – Consultant
RESPONSIBILITIES
·Responsible for tracking and analyzing national/federal funding opportunities. Reviews requests for proposals issued by federal agencies such as the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and departments of Housing and Urban Development, Labor, and Education, among others.
·Prepares responses to requests for proposals issued primarily by federal agencies. Proposals are typically for the development of substance abuse prevention and/or treatment services and the ancillary services that support such programs, e.g., healthcare, housing, and vocational training.
·Performs analyses of public policies, regulatory, and licensing issues
·Serves on in-house and inter-agency committees addressing matters of social policy.
·Works closely with program planning staff and clinical and management staff to enhance program design in existing and new programs.
·Conducts reviews of state-of-the-art program models and stays current with research findings that may affect program design.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
·B.A. required; M.A. in public policy/administration or related field preferred.
·Three-five years grant-writing experience required.
·Knowledge of substance abuse treatment field and familiarity with criminal justice, housing, and mental health fields preferred.
·Understanding of government contracting process and funding streams preferred.
·Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
·Ability to work with individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds.
·Understanding of budgeting and staffing concerns and constraints required.
·Excellent computer and Internet skills required.
·Good organizational and analytical skills
·Ability to meet deadlines.
